The administration of Khartoum’s Al-Dhrah Cancer Hospital announced that the facility has been closed by the sanitation authority due to unpaid outstanding fees.
In a statement posted on its official Facebook page, the hospital warned that hundreds of patients are at risk following the suspension of chemotherapy and radiotherapy sessions.
The administration stated that the hospital is the only specialized cancer treatment center in Sudan and receives hundreds of patients every day, including children whose treatment cannot be delayed.
It added: “Debts can be resolved through negotiation and rescheduling, but lives cannot be replaced. We call on the relevant authorities to intervene immediately and reopen the hospital, as patients’ lives are more important than any outstanding dues.”
