The Civil Democratic Alliance of the Forces of the Revolution (Somoud) welcomed the joint statement on the political process in Sudan issued by the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, Norway, Greece, and the Quintet Group comprising the African Union, IGAD, the United Nations, the European Union, and the League of Arab States.
The alliance stated that the declaration responds to the aspirations of Sudanese people to end the war and urgently address the humanitarian crisis. It further emphasized that a democratic civilian transition is the guarantee for achieving sustainable peace and stressed the importance of a transition process led by a civilian authority that is not dominated by any party and is free from the presence of extremist groups.
The statement added that these principles are consistent with the values and objectives of the glorious December Revolution, which sought to bring an end to the rule of the National Congress Party and its Islamist movement and to break the cycle of prolonged military rule that has left the country in ruin.
The alliance further stated that the war has dragged on for far too long and that the time has come to bring it to an immediate end. It affirmed its commitment to redoubling efforts to achieve this goal through a purely Sudanese will, supported by international and regional positions advocating peace, until the sound of gunfire falls silent across every part of the country.
