Amnesty International: RSF Committed Crimes Against Humanity and Ethnic Cleansing in El Fasher

Amnesty International said that an eight-month investigation concluded that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) committed crimes against humanity and acts of ethnic cleansing during their campaign to seize El Fasher in North Darfur State, western Sudan.

The organization’s report was based on interviews with 247 people, including 208 individuals who either experienced or witnessed conflict-related abuses, among them 39 children. It also analyzed open-source evidence, including 89 videos and satellite imagery from North Darfur.

In its report, Amnesty International stated that it had concluded the RSF committed crimes against humanity and acts of ethnic cleansing during their campaign to capture El Fasher.

The organization said the alleged crimes committed by the RSF included deliberate killings, forced displacement, unlawful imprisonment, torture, rape, sexual slavery, other forms of sexual violence, enslavement, and extermination.
