The Marta Emergency Response Room in Kadugli, South Kordofan State, has distributed food baskets to 120 of the most vulnerable households, with priority given to internally displaced families. The initiative is part of ongoing humanitarian efforts to support people affected by the war and ease worsening living conditions.
The project was implemented with support from the South Kordofan State Emergency Response Rooms Coordination Council as part of continued efforts to strengthen food security and assist conflict-affected households amid growing humanitarian needs in the city.
Speaking to Mashaweer, Adel Sabri, a member of the South Kordofan Emergency Response Room, said the project targeted the most vulnerable families based on humanitarian criteria.
He explained that the initiative is one of a series of emergency interventions aimed at addressing the urgent needs of civilians in war-affected areas.
Sabri added that humanitarian needs continue to far exceed the resources currently available, calling on humanitarian organizations and donor agencies to expand assistance so that it reaches a larger number of affected families.
Meanwhile, Ali Keila, a displaced resident of the Marta neighborhood, told Mashaweer that the food baskets had helped ease part of the hardship faced by displaced families, many of whom have lost their sources of income while struggling with soaring food prices.
He noted that many families still require additional food and humanitarian assistance, particularly as displacement continues and the economic situation deteriorates.
Keila expressed hope that similar initiatives will continue to help alleviate the suffering of those affected by the conflict.
