The Farouk Emergency Room in North Darfur State has launched a vital project to rehabilitate water sources in the Farouk area as part of its efforts to improve water services and ensure access to clean and sustainable water for internally displaced people and affected local communities. The initiative aims to improve public health conditions and ease the daily hardships faced by residents.
Saleh Haroun, a member of the Farouk Emergency Room, told Mashaweer that the project represents a key step in a series of urgent humanitarian interventions led by the North Darfur Emergency Rooms Coordination Council. These efforts are intended to support affected communities, reduce their burden, and strengthen their ability to cope with increasingly complex service challenges amid the difficult conditions facing the region.
He added that the project is designed to meet the urgent needs of displaced people during this critical period.
Meanwhile, Saleh Abdelmajid, a resident of the Farouk area, spoke to Mashaweer about the project’s significant impact on the lives of local people.
«”For a long time, we have suffered from a severe water crisis. Obtaining even a single drop of clean water required walking long distances, in addition to the health risks associated with relying on unsafe water sources,” he said.»
