The Blue Nile Region is hosting the first forum for initiatives and civil society organizations working to build social peace, titled “Peace Train 2.” The forum is organized by the “Yalla for Peace Initiative” under the theme “Our Diversity is Beauty, Our Unity is Peace,” with the aim of supporting peacebuilding efforts and promoting coexistence among different components of society.
The forum is attended by the Sudanese Red Crescent Society, the National Council for Child Welfare, and the UNICEF office in the Blue Nile Region, along with a number of civil society organizations and community initiatives.
In this context, Al-Yasaa Mohamed Ibrahim, a member of the Yalla for Peace Initiative, told Mashaweer that “the forum provides a platform for bringing together the efforts of community initiatives and organizations working in peacebuilding, as well as exchanging experiences and ideas on strengthening social cohesion.”
He added that “the forum’s theme reflects the importance of diversity as a source of strength for society.”
He noted that “building sustainable peace requires broad participation by young people and civil society, as well as support for local initiatives capable of addressing the root causes of conflicts and promoting a culture of dialogue and tolerance.”
