The Nuba Mountains Platform, which monitors the humanitarian situation in the region, reported that a Rapid Support Forces (RSF) unit opened fire on a truck carrying civilians under the protection of a Central Reserve Police force, on the road between Abu Karshola in South Kordofan and Al-Rahad in the northern part of the region.
The platform said the incident resulted in the deaths of two civilians and one member of the Central Reserve force accompanying the truck for security purposes.
The platform also reported that civilians face severe difficulties in obtaining safe passage routes in South Kordofan, noting that residents in the state have routinely been leaving towns under the protection of the army and allied groups.
It added that attacks on civilians by the RSF and its ally, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N), led by Abdelaziz al-Hilu, have continued to recur.
