Rehabilitation of School Facilities for Displaced Girls in Shelters in Northern Sudan

Volunteers have carried out maintenance, renovation, and rehabilitation work on six sanitation facilities at Al-Zourat Secondary School for displaced girls in Dongola locality, Northern State, as part of efforts to improve the school environment and strengthen protection for female students.

The rehabilitation work included repairing, renovating, and painting the sanitation facilities, helping improve the services available to displaced students and providing a safer and healthier school environment.

Mohamed Ahmed Saleh, a volunteer, told Mashaweer that “the intervention is part of the activities of the Safe School Environment and Protection for Displaced and Resident Girls Project,” implemented by the organization in partnership with the Sudan Social Development Organization (SUDO), with funding from the Sudan Humanitarian Fund.

He explained that “the project aims to improve the school environment and strengthen protection measures,” emphasizing that “providing suitable and safe school facilities is an essential step toward ensuring that girls have access to safe and dignified education.”
