The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has revealed a sharp increase in malnutrition cases among children in the Darfur region, reporting a 46% rise over the past five months, amidst an urgent need for $200 million to save children’s lives across Sudan.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The organization warned of the risk of mass child deaths as the country approaches the peak of the hunger season, with malnutrition rates surpassing emergency thresholds in nine out of Darfur\u2019s 13 zones.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a statement published on its official website, UNICEF said:<\/strong><\/p>\n

> \u201cChildren in Darfur are starving because of the conflict and are being denied access to the life-saving aid they desperately need.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

The organization described the figures as alarmingly high and warned that the situation is likely to worsen unless immediate humanitarian action is taken.
