{"id":19665,"date":"2025-07-16T22:45:03","date_gmt":"2025-07-16T22:45:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mashaweer-news.com\/?p=19665"},"modified":"2025-07-16T22:45:03","modified_gmt":"2025-07-16T22:45:03","slug":"ministry-of-health-reports-new-cholera-cases-in-12-sudanese-states","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mashaweer-news.com\/?p=19665","title":{"rendered":"Ministry of Health Reports New Cholera Cases in 12 Sudanese States"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>\u0637The Sudanese Ministry of Health has reported 674 new cases of cholera across 12 states during the current month of July, calling for urgent intervention to prevent a further increase in dengue fever cases across the country.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>According to the ministry, the new infections bring the total number of cholera cases to 87,762, including 2,264 deaths.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Sudan has been experiencing recurring cholera outbreaks since July 2024, mostly linked to contaminated drinking water, after water stations ceased functioning due to Rapid Support Forces (RSF) attacks on electricity transmission and distribution facilities.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Earlier this month, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned that 33.5 million people, including 5.7 million children, are at risk of contracting cholera.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Cholera is particularly spreading among returnees from South Sudan to the Blue Nile region, with 76,000 returnees out of 110,000 Sudanese having fled the neighboring country due to insecurity, food shortages, and lack of services in refugee camps.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>The Ministry of Health also reported 28 cases of dengue fever in Khartoum within one week, along with 68 new cases of measles in 18 localities across seven states, and 13 cases of heatstroke, including three deaths, in the Red Sea and Northern States.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u0637The Sudanese Ministry of Health has reported 674 new cases of cholera across 12 states during the current month of July, calling for urgent intervention to prevent a further increase in dengue fever cases across the country.
