Amid heavy military escalation marked by intense artillery shelling by the Sudan People\u2019s Liberation Movement\u2013North (SPLM-N) led by Abdelaziz al-Hilu, the city of Kadugli is facing a suffocating humanitarian crisis due to the lack of food supplies and life-saving medicines.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

As a result, the specter of famine looms over the entire city, which is groaning under the weight of hunger, disease, and an ongoing siege. With near-daily shelling by SPLM-N forces, death now knocks on every door at any moment.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

Urgent Appeals<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

Citizens and resistance committees in Kadugli have urgently appealed for the opening of the road from Dilling to allow humanitarian aid to reach civilians.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

Umm Jumaa Bakhit, a resident of the South Kordofan capital, told Mashawir:<\/strong><\/p>\n

“We are living a harsh life. Hunger is surrounding us from all directions, compounded by the crisis of closed roads.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

She added that with financial savings depleted and commodity prices soaring, living conditions have worsened dramatically, and life-saving medicines have disappeared.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

“Death is knocking on our doors at any moment\u2014even burial shrouds for the dead are completely unavailable,” she said.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

“People are dying silently, with no medicine or care. That\u2019s why safe corridors must be opened to deliver humanitarian aid.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

Deliberate Starvation<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

Meanwhile, citizen Abdullah Adam appealed via Mashawir to the central government in Port Sudan to pay serious attention to the crisis in South Kordofan and to facilitate the entry of food and medicine into the region.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

He stressed that what is happening to the people of Kadugli is a deliberate act of starvation and called for an immediate military operation to open the Dilling\u2013Kadugli road.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

Multiple Crises<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

A member of the resistance committees in Kadugli\u2014who preferred to remain anonymous\u2014warned that the situation is quickly heading toward collapse due to the absence of basic life essentials, while whatever goods are available are sold at exorbitant prices.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

Regarding the health situation, he pointed out the complete lack of medical care and a severe shortage of medicines in all hospitals in Kadugli, especially treatments for children and chronic illnesses.<\/strong><\/p>\n
