The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has warned that \u201cfamilies trapped inside the city of El Fasher are facing the threat of famine due to the closure of all routes leading into the city as a result of the siege, cutting it off completely from humanitarian aid.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

In a statement, the program acknowledged that it has been unable to deliver food aid by road to the city for over a year. It continues to provide digital cash assistance to around 250,000 people inside El Fasher, but noted that this support falls far short of meeting the vast needs of the besieged population.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

WFP\u2019s Regional Director for Eastern and Southern Africa, Michael Dunford, stated:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone in El Fasher is struggling daily just to survive.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n
