The Bahri Human Rights Observatory has expressed deep concern over the growing threats posed by remnants of military operations to civilian lives in the area.<\/h4>\n

It warned that residential neighborhoods are turning into \u201cticking death zones\u201d due to the widespread presence of unexploded ordnance.<\/h4>\n

The observatory added that the Samrab area witnessed a humanitarian tragedy yesterday afternoon after the explosion of an explosive device\u2014reportedly a grenade\u2014north of Station 8. The incident killed an 8-year-old child, Mohab Mustafa, and seriously injured another child who was taken to hospital. It noted that the two children had picked up the object to play with it, unaware of its danger.<\/h4>\n

The observatory called for the immediate intervention of specialized demining and explosives disposal teams to survey residential areas in Bahri and clear them of unexploded objects to protect lives.<\/h4>\n

It also urged citizens, especially parents, to raise awareness among children not to approach or touch any unfamiliar or metallic objects and to report them immediately.<\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
