Residents of El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan State, say they have increasingly been forced to rely on wells, water trucks, and a limited number of water distribution points to cope with severe water shortages.<\/h4>\n

Over the past several weeks, the flow of humanitarian and food assistance into the city has declined significantly, worsening conditions for residents.<\/h4>\n

Mohamed Refaat of the United Nations International Organization for Migration (IOM) warned that the city is approaching a complete siege, with civilians likely to lose the ability to leave safely or return safely in the near future.<\/h4>\n

He explained that relief organizations have suspended their operations in El Obeid due to the deteriorating security situation and restricted access, while humanitarian needs have far exceeded the pre-positioned emergency supplies available in the city.<\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
