{"id":60581,"date":"2026-10-31T18:45:13","date_gmt":"2026-10-31T18:45:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mashaweer-news.com\/?p=60581"},"modified":"2026-10-31T18:45:13","modified_gmt":"2026-10-31T18:45:13","slug":"un-agency-millions-of-children-in-sudan-deprived-of-education","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mashaweer-news.com\/?p=60581","title":{"rendered":"UN Agency: Millions of Children in Sudan Deprived of Education"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 dir=\"ltr\">A survey conducted by CARE International has revealed that 8 million children have lost the opportunity to attend school amid a severe deterioration in Sudan\u2019s school environment.<\/h4>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\"><\/h4>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\">The survey indicated that more than 90 per cent of schools across the country suffer from acute water shortages and lack toilet facilities.<\/h4>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\"><\/h4>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\">The Sudanese Teachers\u2019 Committee has also reported a significant and alarming decline in the number of pupils and students, particularly in schools located in rural and peripheral areas.<\/h4>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\"><\/h4>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThis reluctance to attend school reflects the scale of the collapse and warns of classrooms becoming empty of children from low-income families, who have no alternative to public education. This leaves us facing a bitter reality and an uncertain future for entire generations,\u201d the committee said.<\/h4>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\"><\/h4>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\">CARE International stated that although the proportion of schools that had reopened nationwide increased from 32 per cent in April 2025 to between 62 per cent by mid-2026, reopening schools does not necessarily mean they are adequately prepared to receive children.<\/h4>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\"><\/h4>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\">It added that persistent challenges, including overcrowded classrooms, lost learning opportunities and protection risks, continue to exacerbate the humanitarian cost of the education crisis.<\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A survey conducted by CARE International has revealed that 8 million children have lost the opportunity to attend school amid a severe deterioration in Sudan\u2019s school environment.
