Meanwhile, the number of people in need continues to rise, as charitable initiatives struggle to sustain their activities.<\/h4>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\"><\/h4>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\">Al-Sadiq Siddiq, a supervisor at one of the community kitchens in Omdurman, said: \u201cWe are facing growing difficulties due to the shortage of financial support from philanthropists and donors, which has forced us to reduce the number of meals provided to families.\u201d<\/h4>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\"><\/h4>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\">He added that \u201cthe situation is getting worse as hunger rates rise among poor and vulnerable people.\u201d He also noted that competition for food has reached distressing levels, with some people physically fighting to secure a share of the beans or lentils provided by the community kitchen.<\/h4>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\"><\/h4>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\">These conditions are forcing increasing numbers of families to face hunger and an inability to secure even the bare minimum of food.<\/h4>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\"><\/h4>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\">Meanwhile, Abbas Mahjoub, who supervises a community kitchen in the East Nile area, said that the number of families benefiting from the kitchen had exceeded 800 before it was forced to suspend operations.<\/h4>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\"><\/h4>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\">He pointed out that residents have increasingly been relying on just one meal a day amid their inability to meet their basic food needs.<\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Access to a meal is no longer possible for thousands of displaced people in Sudan\u2019s capital, Khartoum, after dozens of community kitchens (Takyas) were forced to shut down completely or scale back their operations due to a lack of financial resources.
