The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has condemned the killing of children in the town of Kalogi, calling it a horrific violation of children’s rights, emphasizing that children should never pay the price of conflict.
In a statement, UNICEF’s representative in Sudan, Sheldon Yett, urged all parties to immediately cease these attacks and allow unhindered access for humanitarian assistance.
He noted that South Kordofan State is witnessing confirmed famine declarations in the cities of Kadugli and Dilling, amid an imminent collapse of medical services, the near depletion of essential supplies, and the total disruption of schools—leaving children without learning opportunities and exposing them to severe psychological stress.
The UNICEF representative called on the international community to intensify efforts to protect children and provide them with urgent assistance.
