UN Concern Over Escalating Drone Attacks in Sudan

Omdurman - Mashaweer

With the recent escalation of drone attacks between the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Sudan expressed its deep concern today (Tuesday) regarding reports of continued attacks. These attacks are preventing humanitarian supplies from reaching those in desperate need in the Kordofan region.

The UN office renewed its call for a cessation of fighting and the protection of civilians and infrastructure.

It also urged the parties to the conflict to fulfill their obligations under international humanitarian law.

Local sources reported that the city of Abu Jubayhah, in the southern state of the region, was attacked by drones on Monday night/Tuesday morning. The attack targeted the headquarters of the Sudanese Army’s 10th Infantry Division, resulting in the death and injury of four people, including an officer with the rank of lieutenant.
