Sudanese Doctors: Siege on El Fasher Threatens 100,000 Children and Signals a Looming Humanitarian Catastrophe

Follow-ups – Mashawir

The Sudan Doctors’ Network has warned that the ongoing bombing and siege of El Fasher—now lasting over a year—poses a threat to more than 100,000 children, signaling an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe in North Darfur.

In a statement, the network expressed deep concern over the targeting of civilian gatherings and food centers (tekayas), which serve as the only refuge for children and women seeking food and healthcare.

The statement called on humanitarian and international organizations to urgently intervene by sending food and medicine to save the lives of more than 500,000 children and women facing the risk of death due to food shortages and soaring prices on the black market.

According to the El Fasher Resistance Committees’ Coordination, the city is witnessing a continuous deterioration in humanitarian, living, and health conditions, along with a dramatic surge in the prices of essential goods.
