UN Concerned Over Attacks on Civilians and Infrastructure in Sudan

The United Nations Resident Coordinator and Acting Humanitarian Coordinator in Sudan, Christine Hemmaberg, expressed the UN’s deep concern over the recent wave of attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure in Sudan.
She described the attacks as a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, and emphasized in a statement the urgent need to halt all assaults on civilians and civilian infrastructure across the country.
The statement called on all parties to the conflict to honor their obligations under international humanitarian law, ensure the protection of civilians and civilian property, and refrain from targeting humanitarian workers and facilities, stressing the importance of holding perpetrators accountable for such acts.
