South Kordofan Governor: RSF and SPLM Aim to Reblock National Road and Increase Civilian Suffering

Follow-ups – Mashawir

The Governor of South Kordofan State, Mohamed Ibrahim Abdelkarim, stated that the areas of Al-Dashoul, Al-Samasem, and Kika Al-Khayl are vital and strategic locations that connect the national road between Dilling and Kadugli — a road that remained closed for two years before it was reopened by the Sudanese Armed Forces.

He accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) of attempting to reclose the national road for a second time, thereby reviving the suffering of unarmed civilians.

He added, “However, the armed forces and other security agencies managed to repel the brutal aggression and inflicted heavy losses on the attackers.”

The governor affirmed that “South Kordofan will remain steadfast and defiant in the face of any aggression from any party seeking to destabilize the state.”

The SPLM is attempting to sever the national road linking Kadugli and Dilling, effectively isolating South Kordofan’s towns once again, after the Sudanese army partially broke the siege on Dilling in February.

On Tuesday, the SPLM launched a violent attack on the strategic area of Al-Dashoul in South Kordofan State, which was met with strong resistance by the Sudanese army, resulting in significant losses among the attacking forces.
