Siege of El Fasher Deepens Humanitarian and Living Crisis for Residents

The ongoing siege of El Fasher has severely worsened the humanitarian situation, as residents face immense challenges in accessing basic necessities such as food and medicine, putting their lives in immediate danger.

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have ignored repeated urgent UN appeals to allow humanitarian aid to reach civilians in El Fasher. The latest of these was a one-week humanitarian truce proposed by the UN Secretary-General to enable the delivery of aid to displaced people in the city and surrounding areas—a proposal that was accepted by army commander Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.

For nearly 400 days, the RSF has imposed a total siege on El Fasher, effectively blocking food and medical supplies from reaching more than 500,000 residents, who now face catastrophic humanitarian conditions
