Sudanese Doctors: Rising Heatstroke Cases and Deaths Require Urgent Health Response
Updates – Mashawir

The Sudanese Doctors’ Network reported 28 cases of heatstroke in Red Sea State, eastern Sudan, resulting in five deaths so far, including two women, amid an intense heatwave that has gripped the state for several days.
The network expressed deep concern about the evolving health situation in the region, stressing that the rising number of cases and fatalities calls for urgent health action and strengthened preventive measures, especially as temperatures continue to soar.
It urged health authorities to enhance the readiness of hospitals and emergency centers in affected areas and to intensify awareness campaigns about the dangers of heatstroke and ways to prevent it.
The network also advised people to avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours, wear light-colored cotton clothing, stay regularly hydrated by drinking water, and seek immediate medical attention if symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, fever, or excessive sweating appear.
