Return of Khartoum Residents Hampered by Insecurity and Shortage of Services

Reports – Mashawir

The Khartoum State Police have launched security campaigns to confiscate unlicensed motorcycles and weapons, among other measures aimed at restoring security to facilitate the return of displaced persons to their homes.

A total of 105,000 people have returned to Khartoum State after it was recaptured by the army, out of the 3.6 million who fled their homes following the outbreak of conflict in April 2023.

However, some Sudanese remain hesitant to return to Khartoum due to persistent insecurity and a severe lack of services. The number of returnees remains low compared to neighboring Al-Jazirah State.
