The Sudanese Diplomats’ Group issued an urgent appeal to the foreign ministers of the Quartet to put an end to the bloody conflict in Sudan.
In a statement signed by former Foreign Minister Ibrahim Taha Ayoub, the group welcomed the consistent engagement of the U.S. administration in the Sudanese crisis and expressed hope that the meeting would adopt immediate and decisive steps to resolve it.
The group proposed a roadmap that includes an immediate, comprehensive, and sustainable ceasefire under an international monitoring mechanism, along with the permanent removal of the army, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), and any other military formations from power, both now and in the future.
The Sudanese Diplomats’ Group also warned of the risk of Sudan sliding into dangerous scenarios that could impact regional and international security, especially as terrorist groups in the Sahel seek to establish a foothold in the country.
