The Sudanese Doctors’ Network announced that 41 cases of heatstroke have been recorded in the city of Port Sudan, including one fatality, due to the unprecedented heatwave hitting the capital of the Red Sea State in recent days.
In a statement, the network warned of the dangers of continuing under the current conditions without urgent intervention.
The statement called for immediate action to address the electricity crisis, especially in densely populated areas, as well as for supporting frontline health workers by providing the necessary medical supplies to treat cases of heatstroke and severe dehydration.
