El-Fasher Resistance: Death and Hunger Besiege Residents from All Sides

Reports – Mashawir

The Coordination Committee of El-Fasher Resistance reported that food has run out from homes and markets in the city, confirming in a statement that death and hunger are besieging residents from all sides amid a total collapse of services.

They called on benefactors and humanitarian organizations to intervene by supporting community kitchens (takaya), in addition to providing food, medicine, and opening humanitarian corridors for delivery.

Meanwhile, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) said it has “expanded cash transfers to El-Fasher residents, as 300,000 civilians remain trapped in the city.”

The program stated that it provided cash transfers to 256,000 people in El-Fasher in June, adding that it had pre-positioned food stocks to deliver to the city despite ongoing restrictions.

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have deployed hundreds of fighters on roads leading to El-Fasher, the historic capital of Darfur, to block the arrival of goods, aid, and medicine. Deep trenches have been dug around the city to tighten the siege imposed since April 2024.
