Activists: Situation in El Fasher Has Reached Total Collapse

Follow-ups – Mashawir

Volunteers and humanitarian activists have described the situation in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State, as extremely dire—declaring that the city has effectively reached total collapse in all aspects of life. This deterioration is attributed to the siege imposed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) for over a year, which has led to widespread fatalities, particularly due to the outbreak of epidemics and severe malnutrition.

Local residents report that the city’s staple foods—sorghum and millet—have completely disappeared from the markets. A sack of millet is now being sold for 6 million Sudanese pounds, equivalent to around 2,500 US dollars.

In response, Hadi Idris, the governor of Darfur under the “Ta’sis” coalition government, urged El Fasher residents to evacuate the city, declaring it an active military zone.

He stressed that delivering humanitarian aid or gaining access for relief organizations has become nearly impossible, reiterating the call for civilians to relocate to safer areas.
