RSF Drones Target White Nile; Sovereign Council Calls Attack “Criminal”

Agencies – Mashawir

The Sudanese army said early Sunday it repelled an attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which deployed suicide drones against key facilities in White Nile State, including the Um Dabaker thermal power plant, fuel depots, the civilian airport in Kananah, and an air base.

In a statement, the Sovereign Council said: “Only hours after the Quartet mechanism issued a statement on Sudan, calling for peace and an end to the war, the rebel militia launched suicide drones deliberately targeting civilian facilities and infrastructure in a systematic campaign of destruction.”

The council confirmed that RSF attacks specifically hit the Um Dabaker power station, fuel storage sites, and Kananah civilian airport in White Nile.

“This war is directed against the Sudanese people, who alone will confront it and determine its outcome,” the statement added.

The Sovereign Council described the assault as a “criminal act” against civilian sites in White Nile, saying it represents yet another violation added to the RSF’s “long record of war crimes and crimes against humanity.”

It further stressed that such attacks have become a consistent tactic of the RSF, amid what it called “suspicious regional and international silence.”
