Deterioration of Health and Humanitarian Conditions in El Fasher

Mashawir – Reports

Medical workers in El Fasher have said that health and humanitarian conditions have sharply worsened following continuous artillery shelling that struck several hospitals. Civilians are suffering from severe shortages of medicine and food, forcing some to eat animal fodder for survival, in addition to the lack of vaccines and treatment for chronic diseases.

The city of El Fasher is also facing a severe shortage of drinking water, with the situation threatening a complete water outage across the city. According to local sources, most of the wells that residents rely on to meet their needs are now out of service, either due to the inability to repair them for security reasons, or because there is no electricity to run them, as solar-powered equipment was stolen or destroyed.

The same sources described the food situation in El Fasher as extremely dire, noting that residents depend on scarce meals, with the cost of a single meal reaching 120,000 Sudanese pounds (about USD 35), an amount unaffordable for most of the city’s population.
