Washington Hosts Quartet Mechanism Meetings to Resolve Sudan Crisis
Follow-ups – Mashawir

Washington will host, on October 24, meetings of the Quartet Mechanism — comprising the United States, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates — to discuss halting the war in Sudan and reaching a humanitarian truce, followed by a ceasefire that would pave the way for a political process and Sudanese dialogue aimed at ending the crisis.
The meeting is expected to address developments in Sudan and efforts to stop the war and achieve stability.
The war in Sudan broke out in mid-April 2023 in the capital, Khartoum, and has since spread to several states and cities.
The conflict has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and the displacement of 13 million people, creating one of the worst humanitarian crises in modern history, with no end in sight.
