Tawila Receives Hundreds of Thousands of Displaced People Fleeing El Fasher

Reports – Mashawir

As the humanitarian crisis worsens and fighting and shelling intensify, the city of El Fasher has witnessed the largest wave of displacement since the start of the conflict, with hundreds of displaced families fleeing toward the Tawila area on Saturday and Sunday.

According to Adam Regal, spokesperson for the General Coordination for Displaced Persons, the area has received hundreds of thousands of people escaping from El Fasher, its camps, and nearby areas, under extremely harsh and dire conditions. He reported that two young girls died of thirst during the long and exhausting journey.

Regal said:

> “The ongoing military escalation, lack of food, medicine, drinking water, and all basic necessities of life in El Fasher have forced the Coordination to urge displaced people in the city’s camps to leave.”

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) revealed that El Fasher’s population has decreased by 62 percent due to the war, while the number of displaced people in Tawila has tripled, surpassing 600,000 within just one year.
