Sudanese Delegation Continues Talks with U.S. State Department Representatives

Reports – Mashawir

A Sudanese delegation, led by Foreign Minister Mohieldin Salem, has engaged in talks with the U.S. side on ending the war in Sudan. The discussions come as part of efforts by the International Quartet, which includes the United States, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates, and is expected to hold a meeting at the end of this month to reach a three-month humanitarian truce between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

The Sudanese delegation concluded its first round of talks with representatives of the U.S. State Department, during which they discussed the army’s vision for ending the war and reviewed the proposals outlined in a roadmap presented by the Quartet.

The roadmap includes a three-month humanitarian ceasefire, followed by a permanent truce leading to the start of a political process, and the formation of an independent civilian government within nine months after the permanent ceasefire.

The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that Minister Mohieldin Salem is visiting the United States at the invitation of Washington, as part of Sudan’s efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation with the United States.
