Darfur Governor Confirms El-Fasher Has Fallen to the Rapid Support Forces and Calls for Civilian Protection

Reports – Mashawir

Mini Arko Minawi, Governor of the Darfur region and leader of the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army, announced on Monday that the city of El-Fasher has fallen under the control of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Minawi stated:

> “The fall of El-Fasher does not mean surrendering Darfur’s future to violent groups. Every inch will return to its rightful owners.”
He called for the protection of civilians across the region and urged for an independent investigation into the ongoing human rights violations taking place out of public view.

The RSF had announced on Sunday that it had taken full control of El-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State in western Sudan. The group pledged to facilitate humanitarian aid delivery to those in need and to ensure the safety of aid convoys and workers.
Meanwhile, UN Secretary-General António Guterres on Monday warned of a horrific escalation of violence in the city of El-Fasher, calling attention to the worsening humanitarian and security crisis in the area.
