UN: Suffering of Displaced People in El-Fasher Is Indescribable, Half of Them Children
Monitoring – Mashawir

UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Tom Fletcher affirmed that the suffering of those fleeing the city of El-Fasher and arriving at makeshift camps is indescribable.
In a post on X, Fletcher wrote: “The suffering of the displaced from El-Fasher is beyond description, and half of them are children.”
He noted that “one of the injured women arrived at the camp after surviving the attack, carrying her friend’s hungry child.”
He added, “The displaced are asking the world whether help is coming.”
Fletcher has been visiting Sudan since November 10, holding discussions with both the army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on the humanitarian plan the United Nations intends to implement in the next phase, which this time includes both protection and relief.
Humanitarian workers say that the UN is attempting to expand its mandate under international and UN conventions to ensure that civilians in conflict areas receive protection while humanitarian assistance is delivered without security restrictions.
