The Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and Commander of the Sudanese Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, has directed that no Sudanese citizen should be denied the right to obtain identification documents, even if there are criminal charges filed against them.
He stressed the importance of simplifying procedures and enabling citizens to obtain all their official documents without obstacles.
In a brief statement, Al-Burhan instructed the Minister of Justice and the Public Prosecution to annul any regulations or laws that had previously imposed such restrictions.
He emphasized that citizens’ civil rights should not be subjected to administrative or legal limitations.
Al-Burhan made these remarks during the inauguration of the Police Lieutenant General Khalid Hassan Mohy Al-Din Center for issuing identification documents, in the presence of the Ministers of Interior, Finance, and Justice, along with several executive and security officials.
In the same context, the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council extended congratulations to members of the police forces across the country on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the Sudanese Police, praising their national role in maintaining security and stability. He also highlighted the importance of strengthening trust between security institutions and citizens, particularly under the current circumstances the country is facing.
