Egypt and Saudi Arabia Stress Importance of Achieving Humanitarian Truce in Sudan

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty discussed regional developments on Saturday 14 February with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan. The talks covered efforts to reach a humanitarian truce in Sudan, as well as stability in the Red Sea.

According to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussion took place during a phone call as part of the ongoing consultation and coordination between the two brotherly nations.

Regarding the situation in Sudan, both ministers emphasized the need to intensify efforts to reach a humanitarian truce as a precursor to a comprehensive ceasefire. They also stressed the importance of launching a Sudanese-owned political process while preserving Sudan’s unity, territorial integrity, and national institutions.

The two ministers also discussed ongoing preparations for the upcoming “Peace Council” meeting in Washington. They underscored the importance of continued Arab and Islamic coordination to support efforts for de-escalation and to achieve regional security and stability.
