The US House Foreign Affairs Committee has condemned Emirati support for the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), stating that “this foreign support only fuels the brutal conflict in Sudan,” and emphasizing the need to hold involved countries accountable by halting arms sales.
The House Foreign Affairs Committee clarified in a post on the “X” platform that Congressman Gregory Meeks “will continue to hold all major US arms deals with any country that supports the Rapid Support Forces or any party to this conflict.”
The Committee stated that Congress can cut off foreign support by passing a bill introduced by Mr. Meeks to impose sanctions on those involved in the war and to ban the sale of major US defense equipment to countries involved in fueling the conflict.
Congresswoman Sara Jacobs also called for the removal of all foreign parties from the Sudanese conflict and the cessation of US arms sales, warning that “millions of people face the risk of death due to the lack of security, food, water, and medicine.”
