United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has affirmed a full commitment to intensifying pressure for an immediate ceasefire in Sudan.
On the sidelines of the African Union Summit in Ethiopia, Guterres emphasized the necessity of working to create conditions that exert pressure on both parties to the conflict.
He stressed his organization’s complete commitment to ramping up pressure for an immediate ceasefire in Sudan, in cooperation with key stakeholders.
“We have engaged very actively with the African Union, the Arab League, the Quartet, and other key actors to exercise effective pressure for an immediate ceasefire,” he said. “We have witnessed a massacre in Sudan that cannot be tolerated in the 21st century.”
