US Sanctions Three RSF Leaders

Washington - Mashaweer

The US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) imposed sanctions today, Thursday, on three leaders of the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces (RSF) due to violations committed in the city of El Fasher, western Sudan.

The Department stated that these individuals were involved in the 18-month siege of El Fasher and its eventual takeover, during which the RSF carried out a horrific campaign of ethnic killings, torture, starvation, and sexual violence.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said: “The United States calls on the RSF to commit to an immediate humanitarian ceasefire. We will not tolerate the continuation of this campaign of terror and senseless killing in Sudan.”

He added: “Without a swift end, the Sudanese civil war risks further destabilizing the region, creating conditions for the growth of terrorist groups and threatening the safety and interests of the United States.”
