Massad Boulos, the U.S. President Donald Trump’s advisor for Arab and African affairs, announced the intensification of diplomatic efforts and joint coordination aimed at ending the armed conflict in Sudan.
In a statement, Boulos emphasized the necessity of working toward an immediate humanitarian truce to allow aid to reach those in need, while relaunching a “credible” political path led by the Sudanese people themselves without any delay.
The U.S. advisor pointed out that the continued violence is inflicting heavy losses on civilians and destabilizing the entire region. He stressed the urgent need to ensure sustainable access for humanitarian aid and to provide adequate protection for civilians affected by the conflict.
Boulos underscored that the upcoming political process must move forward with the goal of restoring the country’s civilian transition and seeking a lasting peace that ends the suffering of the Sudanese people.
