Fifteen people were killed and dozens injured on Saturday after a drone strike targeted a civilian transport truck near the town of Abu Zabad in West Kordofan State, according to the “Founding Alliance,” which is backed by the Rapid Support Forces.
The alliance’s official spokesperson, Alaa El-Din Awad Naqd, accused the Sudanese army of carrying out the attack, saying the truck was traveling from the town of Khamy to Abu Zabad when it was struck, resulting in 15 deaths and more than 17 injuries of varying severity.
In a statement posted on Facebook, he described the targeting of unarmed civilians as an attempt to spread fear and expand the scope of war and chaos in the country.
He also called on the international community to take a strong and clear stance against such attacks.
