Volunteers have called for support for a humanitarian project aimed at improving the living conditions of displaced families at Kilometer 70 Camp, east of Dongola in Sudan’s Northern State. The initiative seeks to provide 100 beds, carry out insecticide spraying throughout the camp, and organize an awareness and recreational day for children and families, helping to create a safer and healthier environment for displaced residents.
Speaking to Mashaweer, Saber Mahmoud, a member of the Companions for Humanity Organization, said:
> “The project is a response to the urgent needs inside the camp, particularly as the rainy season increases the risks of diseases and insect infestations.”
He explained that providing beds and spraying the camp with insecticides would improve shelter conditions and reduce health risks, while the awareness and recreational activities are intended to provide psychosocial support for children and their families.
Meanwhile, Sahar Khairy, a community activist in Northern State, told Mashaweer that:
> “Such initiatives represent an important intervention to protect displaced people and uphold their dignity.”
She called on humanitarian organizations, donors, and philanthropists to support the project in order to ensure that displaced families—especially children, women, and older persons—have access to their basic needs and enjoy improved living conditions within the camp.
