An event titled “Dialogue and Art for Peace” has been launched in Uganda’s capital, Kampala, organized by the Democratic Media Center, with the participation of a number of Sudanese male and female artists, alongside journalists, activists, and people interested in cultural and civil affairs.
The event brings together visual art, dialogue, and music, and seeks to highlight artists’ experiences during the war and the impact of displacement on their work and artistic careers. It also explores the role of art in promoting the values of peace, coexistence, and communication among Sudanese people.
Sudanese visual artist Musab Zorog, who is based in Uganda, told Mashaweer that “the event includes an art exhibition and a dialogue session with participating artists, in addition to a musical performance.”
He added that “organizing the event represents an attempt to use the arts as a space for expressing Sudanese people’s experiences during the war and opening a dialogue about their aspirations for peace. This strengthens the ability of art to build bridges of communication and bring different perspectives within society closer together.”
