Volunteers conducted awareness-raising workshops on protection for female students as part of the “Safe School Environment and Protection for Girls” project targeting displaced and resident girls in Dongola locality, Northern State.
The activities were implemented by Khair Aoun Organization, in partnership with the Sudan Social Development Organization (SUDO), with funding from the Sudan Humanitarian Fund.
According to volunteer Mohamed Ahmed Saleh, who spoke to Mashaweer, the workshops included female students from Al-Zourat Secondary School for Girls and Abdel-Mutaal Secondary School for Girls. The sessions aimed to raise students’ awareness of protection concepts, the risks girls may face, and ways to prevent and respond to them.
He added that the activities also focused on promoting a culture of seeking help and reporting protection incidents, as well as introducing girls to the protection mechanisms available to them.
Saleh explained that the workshops are part of the project’s efforts to provide a safe and supportive school environment for girls, while strengthening their awareness of their rights and the protection mechanisms available to them.
