European Condemnation of Violations Committed by Both Parties to the War in Sudan

Mashawir – Reports

The European Parliament has strongly condemned the violence committed by both sides of the Sudanese conflict—the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF)—while welcoming the Quartet Group’s initiative to end the war.

In a resolution adopted by a majority of 503 votes in favor, 32 against, and 52 abstentions, Members of Parliament stated that indiscriminate attacks on civilians, violence targeting ethnic minorities, sexual violence, torture, the use of child soldiers, attacks on hospitals and humanitarian facilities, and the deliberate starvation of civilians may amount to acts of genocide.

The Parliament also expressed deep concern over the alarming deterioration of the humanitarian crisis in Sudan, confirming the existence of famine in parts of the country.
