“OCHA”: Establishing a Mission in El Fasher Came After Humanitarian-Focused Talks

Mashawir – Follow-ups

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Sudan announced that, following arduous humanitarian-focused talks, it has succeeded in establishing a mission to assess the situation inside the city of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State.

OCHA explained that the establishment of an assessment mission in El Fasher came after difficult negotiations of a humanitarian nature, confirming that this will be the first UN mission to enter the city, which has endured a prolonged siege, intense fighting, and acts of violence against civilians and humanitarian workers.

The move comes for the first time since the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) took control of the city on October 26.
