UN Expresses Concern Over Worsening Insecurity in Darfur

Washington – Mashawir

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has expressed concern over the deteriorating security situation in the Darfur region.

According to the office, “a drone strike on April 21 targeted the town of Um Dukhn, southwest of Zalingei, the capital of Central Darfur State, resulting in the deaths of more than 10 civilians and injuring many others.”

It added that in North Darfur State, insecurity led to the displacement of 115 people from their homes in the village of Damrat Al-Qubba in Kutum locality last Sunday.

In recent weeks, drone attacks targeting civilians, civilian objects, and vital infrastructure have escalated across several Sudanese cities and regions.

The targeting of Sudanese civilians by drone strikes has resulted in the deaths of hundreds and the injury of thousands.
