The Empowerment Removal Committee (officially the Committee for Dismantling the June 30, 1989 Regime and Recovering Public Funds) announced it will hold a press briefing this Friday evening via its official social media platforms to present the latest developments in its work and the outcomes of its recent measures.
The committee warned citizens against purchasing any assets owned by figures linked to the former regime, noting that some of these properties are being disposed of through what it described as illegal means.
It added that the briefing will reveal new decisions and findings related to its mandate of dismantling the former regime and recovering public funds, as part of ongoing efforts to resume its activities.
In March, former members of the suspended committee stated that they had held a meeting and decided to restart its work under the leadership of Mohamed Al-Faki Suleiman, a former Sovereign Council member who was removed following the 2021 Sudan coup.
The committee, popularly known as the “Empowerment Removal Committee,” was established in December 2019 under the transitional constitutional document, with the mandate to dismantle institutions of the former regime, recover public assets, and remove its affiliates from the civil service.
Its work was suspended by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, head of the Transitional Sovereign Council, as part of the decisions taken on October 25, 2021, which he said were intended to review its structure and methodology and ensure its decisions are subject to legal oversight.
