United Nations: Unexploded Ordnance Remains a Deadly Threat to Returning Families in Sudan
Washington – Mashawir
The United Nations warned that unexploded ordnance continues to pose a deadly threat to families returning to their homes in Sudan.
Kazumi Ogawa, Director of the United Nations Mine Action Service, said that explosive remnants of war remain a serious danger to civilians attempting to resettle.
Local sources have also cautioned that additional landmines and unexploded devices may still be buried underground.
They urged citizens to exercise extreme caution to ensure their safety.
Meanwhile, Acting Federal Minister of Health Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim called for stronger coordination with specialized organizations to prevent contamination and address the significant environmental and public health risks caused by war remnants.
